Japanese War Rations
In Today's issue we are going to take a look at what our soldiers are eating in the battle field. You may be surprised with what they are being fed. As you may or may not know, our soldiers eat mostly rice. While polished rice is more common to find, rice in general makes up 50% of the Japanese soldier's diet. Transportation decides how much food a man would receive. When there was ample transportation soldiers receive about 1.3 kilograms of food. When transportation is somewhat difficult men receive 1.13 kilograms of food. When transportation is very difficult our warriors receive about 0.86 1/2 kilograms of food. As you may not think, there are more than one thing that contributes to the daily ration.
As mentioned above, polished rice comes in with the most amount, about one pound and seven ounces per ration. Second is canned goods made up of mostly compressed fish. They make up about 2.8 ounces per ration. Next is dehydrated food also making up 2.8 ounces of a ration. After dehydrated food comes sugar, making up about seven tenths of an ounce per ration. Then comes salt at around 0.35 ounces per ration. Second to last comes pickles taking up half an ounce in a ration. Lastly, 0.07 pints of soybean sauce is provided. You can now see what are soldiers have to eat everyday. I know it would be hard for me to live and fight on mostly rice everyday!! As always, stay tuned for the latest on Worl War II.
